Does anyone keep cattle and goats together? Im looking into meat goats and wanted to know if I could fence them together or if they had to be seperate. Thanks!

Goat/Cow Question - Goats

This help answer your question? Our herd of 10 cows share grazing areas with our goat herd. You must of course block the cows access to the barn and goat lounging area for the safety of the goats. But it works quite well.

we put a chain over the 'doorway' to the stalls. The cows can get into part of the barn and the goats can go further into the stalls and lounge there. So far, it has worked out fine.

Our cows are not allowed access to our barn at all, so we have barbed wire about chest height on a cow and the goats just go right under it and into the barn.

I've cut a hole in a cattle panel and hinged it across a gate opening. When the gate is open you close the cattle panel, steers stay on one side and goat jump through the lower cut out hole three at a time....If anyone want's a picture of this idea just ask and I'll gladly post one...

It's actually a GOOD idea! The cows are pretty selective of what they will eat and will also graze things down futher. The goats will eat what the cows consider "trash" and help keep the pasture neat. If you have any Cedar trees, Hedge (Osage Orange, Bodarc, etc) or Multiflora rose, the goats LOVE to much on them, and will "strip" them up as high as they can reach..
