We made our own for our daughter's goat, following the instructions I found on here somewhere Do a Google for Maggidan's milker, that's what it's modeled after.

Milker Under $10

On April 10th this year I had to have surgery on my right hand.

The doctor had to remove three of my bones making me be able to milk my goats and be able to do the crafts I love to do.

So I March I started looking at some of the hand held non electric milking machines. The price was more than I wanted to pay so my mind went ticking off in to how can this be done.

I went to the floral department of my local discount store and found the sprayer with padded handle. I had some of the 1/4 inch tubing used in aquariums and had a new 35 cc syringe. Well taking these and putting them together I wound up with this little milker. Be sure to loosen the nozzle to allow the milk to make a stream and not a spray. Try water to get the stream right.

I am still under restrictions of no milking but with this I can milk most of the milk from the udder and be able to milk the rest with my left hand.

Janice a friend and neighbor has used this for over a month now and I used it a couple weeks before I had the surgery. It is cleaned every night with cold and then hot water pumped through the complete thing. Once a week it is soaked in hot water with dish washing detergent. I have also pumped white vinegar through it. I have a second one made just in case it is needed while the first one is soaking. I've had to replace the tubing once.

There have been several friends that have seen this and insisted I put it on my website. I am just now getting it up as my hand is allowing me to do a little typing.

Here is a picture of it on the doe and you can see the milk going into the bucket.

To use this milker you need squirt milk from each teat to get it started and test it if you do this step. Next you will need to wash the teat with warm water (or in your normal manner) and allow it to be damp so vacuum will form when you are squeezing the handle. Massage the udder as you squeeze the handle until you feel the udder near empty. We still have to strip her out after the milk doesn't flow into the syringe. After milking be sure to use a clean towel and rewash and wipe then if you use teat dip apply it.
