Yes a year...but...if you just have it in the top of a refridgerator freezer than 6 months. I keep mine in a styrofoam cooler inside my chest freezer so it is not effected by the cycling of the defrost timer. Which thaws and freezes and thaws and freezes the outside layer of all your food. Good things like colostrum, good cuts of meat and seafood should not be kept in a frostfree freezer. You can also disconnect your defrost timer from your chest freezer, you will just (like me) have to unplug it and thaw it out twice a year. Vicki
