Kind Of Bummed

I took about 28 pictures this morning and only three of them were even sort of what I thought I might use. I really wanted to get a picture of the goats out in the pasture. I just love looking out my window and seeing them all spread out grazing. It's so peaceful. The moment I go outside with the camera though, they all come running and all I get are pictures of them standing on the gate, or standing by the fenceline looking at me. LOL I love my goats, and I'm glad they love me, but geesh--go about your business already! hahaha

Heh - that is why I do not have any good photos of our kids. They bum rush the fence every time they see me. The adults I can usually catch - especially if they are intently grazing.

and dont you just love all the nose and eye pics you get because it never fails they must look right into the camera, and make sure there isnt any food in there.

I know, I shouldn't complain, it would be worse if they didn't want to be anywhere near me.

Here are the couple of 'sort of okay' shots, but not nearly what I wanted.

Here's Mickey waiting for me to get just a little closer to the fence 'please'. lol

Kind Of Bummed - Goats

Here's the herd sort of starting to eat again, but still not leaving the fence... oh, and one of the dairy kids going to the fence line to check out the 'big man' on the other side who was all too happy to check her out too.

Kind Of Bummed - Goats

And finally... the dairy kids on the goat tree

Kind Of Bummed - Goats

That old tree has a history. Way back when we had dairy goats a long time ago that tree has always been an attraction for them. We used to have goats that would get up inside the tree because there’s an old stump in the middle where the tree had at one time been cut down and makes a perfect stand for the goats to get up higher into the leaves. These kids haven’t quite found that yet though, but they’re still loving the tree.

Someday I might get that perfect grazing in the field shot… but not today.

Me, too. That's how I start each morning and usually end each night, with 20-25 minutes each looking out the window at the goats grazing. I work the farm hard to get those 45-50 minutes total a day. And it's worth every bit of it.

Oh yeah, me too. I also love taking my first cup of coffee in the morning and going out in the back yard and just sitting there on the bench while the dog 'does her thing' I have chickens come sit next to me, the barn cats come to say 'good morning', and the goats and horses are all grazing contently. Every once in a while a horse will nicker, or a goat will maaaa at me. There is NOTHING like it. I wouldn't trade my life for anything in the world.

Oh yeah. I like getting out of the car when I get home from work, and a few goats will baah at me, like "Hi there." The cows used to moo when I got home, when we had them.

This morning, I watched a goat on tippy-toes trying to reach up and grab leaves off a tree branch. She was kind of far off, and in the wan morning light, she looked like a dancer, with her front legs hanging limp as she walked around on her hinds, her sheer willpower and desire for a leaf holding her upright for quite a long time.

That's a special moment to see.

I probably won't be seeing as much of them when I get the back fence finished, though. Too many goodies back there. It is loaded with brambles, leaves and browse. I am hoping it will be ready by Monday to let them in back.

Hey girl...bummed!..those are better pics than I ever got of Mick. I either got the up close and personal..or the "on the run" comin' at ya poses..lol.

He looks great Tami! Told ya he would shed off..lol. Did you make a coat outta what he shed? All jokes aside..I was really thankful he passed that to his kids born in the winter.

I just think they all look great. And your milk babies are growing like weeds!

I have made my choice...(drum roll) I am going to keep Wyatt Urp..(the black hipped buck) and sell Brother. I know I should be doing the opposite..but Wyatt kinda sucked me in from the get go.

My kids are gonna finish cleaning up the lower pasture and then they are going to the sale barn with Brother. Aaaah..it feels good to make a definitive decision! LOL.

Hey...how hard is it to post a pic on here? Are ya ready to "walk me through it?' PM me when you are..lol.

Ya got any more babies coming shortly? Or are ya done for a while?

Tell the gang hey...and they sure all look great! (Don't be bummed..lol!) Sher

I would never have been able to choose between those to bucklings! They were both so huge and gorgeous! I love the name too... wyatt urp. haha, what a cool name for a buck.

Posting a pic on here isn't hard at all... but (yeah, you knew there was a but comming) you have to have them hosted somewhere. If you don't have the website yet, you can get a photobucket account. It's free. I can't help you too much on that because I've never used photobucket, but I know lots of people do.

Give me a call and I'll try to help you through it as much as possible. Have you gotten to where you have downloaded pics onto the computer yet?
