Goats in the movies

We got a lovely yearling Nubian from Emily a couple of months ago, and she came with the name Pumpkin. Pumpkin is a lovely goat, and she has a lovely name. However, I have really struggled with wanting to call her Jar-Jar ever since I saw her.

Jar Jar Binks is the long eared character from Star Wars I (actually the fourth episode that was released.) I was absolutely convinced that there is a resemblance.

Today we rented the DVD and watched it. My friend Lonnie watched about 15 minutes of the movie and then said, "OK, name change."

The creator of that character absolutely has Nubian goats. The look is the same, the mannerisms are the same, the funny flighty behavior is the same. Our goat even stands up on her hind legs to look in the window of the milk house and is about as tall as Jar Jar!!

Just to make it more interesting, the Jedis go to a town on Tatooine to get parts for their spaceship, and when they ask for what they need, they say the parts are for a (something something) Nubian.

Very interesting! They have to get their ideas somewhere, I'll bet you're right, the character's author loved Nubians.

I have LaManchas, and have "ear envy" lately. Those Nubian ears just seem so exotic and plentiful. I try to imagine having goats with ears. I have two mini Saanen/LaMancha crosses who got grand dad's Saanen ears, and a ND, but nothing like those Nubian ears. Are they really expressive like some dog's ears?

LOL, I have a JarJar. Her ears are even more JarJar like than your Nubian, but yes there is an amazing resemblance. I'll get a pic to post if I can ever remember to confiscate the camera from DH. He keeps leaving it in the truck.

JarJar's ears sit back slightly, just like JarJar Binks' ears.

This is too funny! I thought we were the only family that thought this! When we got our nubian, we thought she looked like Jar-Jar too. My LaMancha resembles the Veloceraptors(sp?) on the movie Jurasic Park!

Too funny! Angel, my NubianX, gets called JarJar every now and then. I think you're right, the person who designed the character must have Nubians!

That's a fitting name, same color too if I remember right!
I almost named this little girl JarJar (It's Miracle!) Yours looks more like a JarJar than she does though.

For those in AFLAC insurance country, there is a very cute Boer/Boer cross in the latest round of AFLAC commercials. It gets a starring role!

I've only seen the three original Star Wars movies -- guess I'll have to look for the one with the goat in it!

Personal preference here, but I think the original three were 100% better than the new three. But I do like Jar-Jar Binks.

Yes, the first Star Wars series (numbered IV, V, and VI) were the best. I have a tough time staying focused on the story in the new ones.

I LOVE those commercials. They're hilarious, and I love seeing the Boer goat on TV.

I just saw a commercial yesterday, can't tell you what for, where they unload a truck load of "grazing" animals to take care of a lawn. Yeah, you guessed it, a truck load of "grazing" goats. If it was that easy, I'd turn my girls lose on the lawn.

Your "Jar-Jar" looks exactly like my first goat, Jill. She was beautiful, as is your lady. P.S., I think she's way cuter than Jar-Jar Binks.

And here I always thought they modeled JarJar Binks on an English Lop rabbit!
