USBGA Regional Nationals - we did good!

Well, DH, DD, and DS just finished a looong day at Boer Goat Nationals in Canby, Oregon.

Nationals went quite well for us....

It started with DD winning Overall Showman (and getting a big trophy- she is tickled).

Cordelia, 3-6 month percentage (and the only Jr. we entered, and her first show),
out of Hermia, by Dublin - RGCH % Junior
Distelfinck - out of Barli, by Dublin - GCH Yearling %
Red Riding Hood - Sr. % Doe, 1st in her class. Out of Rose Red, by Apollo.
Madeline - Sr. % Doe 1st in her class.

Little Sure Shot - GCH Fullblood Jr. Doe. Barely 3 months, so in the 3-6 month class.
Out of Banshee, by Copper Penny Mr. Incredible

Killarney - 1st in her class, Jr. fullblood
Tralee - 2nd in her class, Jr. Fullblood (they are sisters. Brought Tralee so she could show and be in the get-of Sire class for Dublin. Killarney and Tralee are out of Limerick , by Dublin.

Mystique - GCH Yearling Fullblood
Copper Penny RGCH Yearling Fullblood

Limerick - 1st in her class. RGCH Senior Fullblood doe
Connemara - 1st in her class.

Mr. Right - National RGCH Jr. Fullblood Buck, at just under 3 months of age!

Mr. Incredible - 2nd in his class. (buck that beat him went RGCH Senior buck).

Group classes: 1st in Best pairof % does
2nd in Best pair of FB does
1st in produce of Dam
1st in Get of Sire (Dublin)
1st in Breeders Trio (1 buck, 2 does)

So 3 National Champions, 3 Reserve National Champions.

Unbelievable. I'm sure this will sink in over the next week or so. We have worked very hard, but who would have thunk!

Thanks for letting me share.

By the way, we are selling breeding stock - Fullblood does and bucks, Percentage Does (all wethers sold out). Transport between Idaho and California may be possible.

Wow. Congratulations.

When people talk about "percentage Boers," what kind of goat is the non-Boer percentage, usually?

You can use any other breed to mix the Boer, but Nubians seem to be the breed of choice. They tend to have the same head and ear shape. I have also bred Myotonics to the Boers. The Myotonics grow slower, but the muscle mass is greater (so far in two does) once they mature. I am waiting to see what the kids look like when bred back to a Boer.

Congratulations on a bang up day!

I have a question though, and I don't mean to be 'snotty' or anything, just wanting to know for my own future knowledge on the subject of goat shows--

If it was a regional show, they are regional champions not national champions right? Or do the Boer goat shows recognize the regionals as the same as the 'National' show?
