Feeding question please???? Need quick answer please

My husband just got out of the hospital today. I have 2 bucks who are bottle fed babies. They are a month old at this point. I ran out of goat milk for them this morning, just when the hospital called and said my husband could come home.

Is there any problem feeding either 2% milk or evaporated milk mixed with water to make it "whole milk"?

Thanks!

Why not just buy a bottle of whole milk from the grocery store?

Because

Because I have to stay home with my husband right now, and I have the evaporated milk and 2% on hand. Just wondering if this is okay or not?

Just use the 2% milk you have in the jug, don't worry about adding the evaporated milk right now. in the long run, they would need that added fat to thrive, but in the short term, the 2% will be fine. Store bought whole cows milk is good if you can get to the store if you are out of goats milk.

Thanks

I did go ahead and mix up whole milk with the evaporated and water as it said on the can to do, boy did they slurp that down!

I made enough for the morning feeding, and if my husband is able, I will go to town and get some milk for the afternoon, otherwise, I have lots more cans of evap milk.

Thanks!

Do you have any dairies near by where you can buy raw cows milk? That would be cheaper.

It's fine to raise them on store bought whole cows milk....just not skimmed or 2%.

Thanks

Thanks everyone. Time is over for this thread. I fed the babies last night, which is what I needed to do and this morning, and I am going to go get more goat's milk today, free except for a donation, so no problem. Reason I couldn't do it last night was as I explained in my first message, my husband came out of the hospital yesterday and was as weak as a kitten and couldn't be left alone for the first 24 hours. Now, he is nearing the 24 hours, is a little stronger, and I can leave him for a while. The place I get the goats milk is about an hour away, so I have to leave him alone for about 2 to 3 hours in order to get the milk and come back.

Now things are fine and I am able to go. It was just for those 2 feedings I needed answers, one that came up sooner than I expected, because he got out later than I expected.

So thanks for the answers, I'll know for the future!
