Anyone use Valbazen?

My neighbor suggested this for our peafowl...and I see it is normally used on sheep and cattle...Anyone use this for their goats? If so, what dosage? THe same as the sheep dosage? If we don't have to use seperate wormers, it'd be nice to be able to hit everyone with the same one

My vet recommended valbazen. She has goats too so I'm sure it works.

In many parts of the country(here for instance), Valbazen is used for tapeworms in goats at the dosage Susanne gave. BUT! It doesn't get any other worms in a lot of areas. So you'd be ahead to have your vet do a fecal on your goats to determine what type of worms you should be worming for. Valbazen may do nothing for you, so it would be a waste of money and a false security. You will probably need to worm with Cydectin or Ivomec to get the real problem worms.

Valbazen also can't be given in the first 30 days, I believe, of pregnancy.

It can also be given to dogs with tapes.

Yeah, the biggest thing is we need it for the cattle because it prevents our specific type of liver flukes up here. Just figured Id see if anyone else used it Thanks

emily what would you use for tapeworm infestation? i know in a normal healthy goat it isn't necessary to do something for tapes but i know of one herd and i think she has a bad parasite problem. she uses an ivermectin wormer of some sort but her goats look very raggedy and i saw a lot of tapeworm segments.
also her goats stink. i had never had a goat with such bad odor. it is not goaty but really bad. the feces smell bad too.

How strange. I guess I have never had a real tapeworm infestation. I worm kids with Valbazen for tapes and if I ever see Tapes in an adult doe, I worm them with Valbazen but that is very rare. All I have ever used for tapes is Valbazen......I used Safeguard many years ago and didn't get as good results.

I would use it on a milking doe if she needed it...Dosage I don't know....its been so long since I used it on an adult doe.....let me check my Valbazen bottle tonight and I'll let you know if it says anything about withdrawal times for dairy cattle.

Ah well then, if it was milk for myself, I'd dose them and still drink it......but if it was for selling, I'd probably give it a few weeks withdrawal just to be sure......thats not a vet reccomendation or anything!! Just what I would probably do in that situation.
