Question Pygmy Problems

We have 2 little pygmy does, Noel & Sally, about 6 months old now. They are sweet, problem is ,they're TOO tame! Our yard is very large, surrounded by woods, so we often let them out to graze & play. Our Pyr Isaiah is their nanny. Problem is, they CONSTANTLY jump up on the hoods of the cars! And they try to jump on my lap when I am sitting outside, and I am 8 months pregnant!! Is there any hope of somehow training them to NOT do such things? They seem totally oblivious & clueless.

I have had goat jump on cars for years. I have NEVER been able to stop them. We just bought a new care two days ago, and if they jump on it they are all gone, so to prevent that I will not leave it out for them.
They will stop jumping on you after a whole. What you can do is get a spray bottle and spray them in the face and they will get down.
Isn't it funny, some have goats that are this friendly and others have goats that can not even be touched.

Hmmmmm my son has a squirt gun, I could try that!! My dad came over the other day in his new car, and one of them jumped on HIS car, oh I thought he was going to have a seizure!!
Oh, and they are forever sucking on everyone's hair... I put mine in a ponytail and in no time, it's a slobbery slimey mess!! We bottle fed them so they'd be tame for the kids, boy are they EVER!!!! When Noel jumped on me, she very nearly landed square on my huge belly, lucky I was quicker than she was!!

I find giving them a little smack in the face, increasing in intensity, teaches them fairly quick. It's how they learn not to do other things within the herd... The do somethign wrong and they get butted (punished) for it.

A good smack and a loud NO is a good surprise. I am working with my wether who is a biter. If he bites me or even goes to I slap/smack his face with my fingers and yell NO. Soon I will be able to just yell NO and he will stop. THis takes time but if you don't it only gets worse unfortunatly they are not seeing you as one to respect but to play on and play with. Now I love a playful goat. I enjoy mine that are so, but there is a respect level that they need to have as well. IF they cross that line I let them know it. A herd queen would do the same so you need to assert yourself as the herd queen.

As to the cars.............on another board I frequent someone was having this issue and there was a suggestion of putting vaseline (or somthing slippery, I maybe remembering incorrect) on the bummper so the they would slide right off before they could get a good jump off.

My mother in law came over in her red convertible and Carmel, one of our does, jumped INTO her car and sat there like she belonged. ;-)

My goats have never gotten on the car but my great dane used to sleep on the hood when it was warm. My wife thought she would teach her a lesson and throw water on her. The dog jumped up and scrambed to get off, tearing up our paint job.

Well I did try popping them on the nose & hollering, trying to startle them, but they totally acted oblivious to it,didn't even blink!! I will have to start packing a squirt gun,I guess. I don't know what DH will think of vaseline on the cars, though!!

I'd say it is better then little dents on the cars. Plus once they realize they can't get up on it they will find something else.

Have you thought about building them a pen?

Yes, they have a very large pen, they sleep w/ the LGD,Isaiah, when he is not out on patrol. However, the kids love to have them out running alot of the time, as I am home all day, they are out usually when the kids are outside.

Sounds like they need a jungle gym.
