Electric milker for y'all with bad hands.

To give credit where it is due, this is just a further evolution of the MAggidan's milker and the spraybottle milker. But in this case, it is battery powered and requires that you only pull a trigger. The parts are available at Tractor Supply. The pump is called "One Touch Power Sprayer". It is marketed as a powered alternative to a spray bottle. Its in the big bin by the checkout. I got a 35 CC syringe to use as a teat cup. The sprayer has all the tubing you need. Just pull the ball off the end and slip it over the end of the syringe.

To use it you strip out the teat a few times to get it flowing. Then I prime the syringe by filling it partway with milk. I wet the teat a little with milk to provide a good seal then point the "gun" into your pail and pull the trigger. The gun has a trigger lock so you don't even need to hold it down. After a few seconds milk will flow. Once the stream falls off a little slowwly remove the teat and finish by hand.

Its waaaaay slower than hand milking, but it was $7 for the sprayer and $3 for syringes. Can't beat that with a stick.

My mom just had surgery on her right hand and would love to give this a try. It might actually be faster than her milking with her left hand only. Where can I get this sprayer? Do you need to do to much to retro-fit it? Thanks for posting this, I am kinda excited to try it out.

Csegers wife here --

The sprayer came from Tractor Supply Company. We found it in the bins right in front of the checkout. The only thing you need to do is pull the little ball off the end of the tubing. Be sure to pick up a syringe that looks like the right size, too - the one in the photo is 35 cc, I think.

As for it being slow, it's relative - we hand milk pretty fast. It is definitely worth a try if hand milking is hard or slow for you. I think using the spray gun took maybe 4 or 5 minutes to empty a side? ...and it didn't get all of the milk - we had to hand finish, but not too much.

If you get the two items and have any trouble, send a PM and C can try to walk you through it in email or if you send a phone number he can call you to help.
