Question pygmy doe acting bucky???

my little pygmy has a 5 week old buckling everything has been just fine up untill about a week ago she started being rough with the other does and with us which isnt like her, then she started spitting and chatting and sputtering like a buck every time my yearling nubian went past her, now she is jumping on my little nubian as if preforming the deed, she even sniffs urine and turns back her lips like a buck, my nubian seems to be getting very tiered of all this, can anyone tell me what is going on here?

That is odd to me. I don't have pigmies, but none of my does have ever acted like that beyond about 6 or 8 months of age - normal kid behavior...once they have their own kids they stop. I don't know what to tell you.

Sounds like a hormone problem. Something is out of balance. Possibly a cystic ovary or something??

Sounds like she could be cycling and and could be rebred at this time if she had access to a buck. Note this behavior on a calendar and see if it recurs on a regular basis. Just a thought.

I have a couple of does that do this off and on (pregnant, dry, milking. etc.), I believe it is just a dominance thing. Maybe because she has a new little one, she is being more protective, and therefore more aggressive to the rest of the herd.

Come to think of it, it is one of our Kinder does that dose it most often, so maybe the trait is stronger in pygmies?

I have Nigerians, and most of my does do that also. It is no big deal and it does not indicate that anything is wrong. It is either Dominence. or hormones.

My Nubian is like that when she (or anyone else!) is in heat - unless she's bred.

So far, I haven't seen it in any of my Nigerian does.
