first time drenching help

So tonight we had our first drenching experience. Coulda went better. We are giving the girls Albon for coccidiosis. One doe out of five liked it o.k. (after she wasted half of the first batch before she figure it out). The other four thought we were trying to kill them. Giving shots is easier than this. What am I doing wrong?

First I let them sniff it thinking they might just suck it down...smelled pretty good. Not so much. We tried the laid back routine for a bit....a few different things. Nope. So then my son and I both had to straddle them with me in front and them backed into a corner. I held their head with one hand and tried to open their mouths....then get the drencher to one side and back.....they fought like crazy and I lost some. Tried to give a bit more to make up for it....I don't know.

Can someone walk me through how they do a drenching? I am supposed to give them 15 ml of Albon for the next five days.....

Dee

Stand beside them and put your arm around their head and neck and your hand under the jaw and lift it straight up. Then with the other hand insert the drencher in the corner of the mouth , on top of the tongue and shoot it in. It may help to pin them against a wall

We are using Sulmet - but same deal. They HATE it and make horrible faces for about 10 minutes if we drench straight. Not sure about Albon - but if it's like sulemt, you can mix it with something that tastes good to make it easier. We put it in a bottle with a little gatorade - they suck it down quite happily.
