Burning

My Rhineheart X50 arrived in the mail today. There was an accident involving a UPS truck near here this morning, I thought for sure my package was on it...lol It could have been. The package was pretty banged up.

So....now I have to get up the gumption and just burn a kid or two to get going on it. I wish I had a heifer calf to burn first. They just seem safer to me. All we have is a bull calf that is likely going to the salebarn on Saturday.

I'm not afraid of getting burned as I have already been burned by one before. I'm worried about being to forceful.... And on the other end not being forceful enough to hold them still. Doesn't help that I think is screwed up my shoulder this afternoon...lol

Doing it myself will save a lot of cost. It's $3 a head plus office visit ($15). Since I rarely had more than four ready at a time it has gotten expensive. We have about six wethers running around with horns...I've already had to pull two out of our fencing already... *sigh*

I hear ya I when I burned my first one. befor I did it I must of pasted the floor for an hour, telling my self " I can Do this" So I did not even think about it I just moved forward Plug it in , in one barn waited 10 minutes tested it, then went and got the kid. I just kept moving and doing it, not really thinking about it.
It was very difficult to hold them still. They are Nigies so I did not use a Box.
The actual burning went ok it was holding her head still that was very difficult.
Well I ended up getting a scur on one side but the first side looked great.
I feel for you believe me. Now I have no problem doing the Burn, but I still have a hard time holding the kids . I have to go out and reburn a couple bucklings.ARGGGGG those Nigie horns are nast long based.

Yeah. Boomer had to be thrown again today. Boy just isn't getting it as quickly. Though by the time I left his pen he was approaching me cautiously and picking his head up for scratches...which is what we worked on. I prefer they lift their heads when they come up to me rather than put them down. That's how our bulls are trained.
I actually wrenched my shoulder trying to pull Midge's ear. She was standing in the feeder when I was trying to pour feed. I put my arm through the panel and heard some hideous crackling in my shoulder and then quite a bit of pain. So far, my arm is usable, but I can't lift high and I had trouble lifting the moose of a doeling (the white one on prevention) out of her pen.....Kid born the day after Christmas is a stinking tank and fought it every step of the way... Stinking LobLolly.....
We'll see how I do milking the goats tonight....
Jane dumped the bucket of milk two nights ago just as we were getting close to finished. Didn't get milked last night (she's not giving enough for it to hurt her). I may have to strap her leg tonight with this added injury.

This day will never end....
