Extra meals for skinny kids? (pictures)

Everything is going good with the new kids. They are about 10 days old now. Today I was fooling around with them when I noticed that one was quite a bit “thicker” then the other.

Since my daughter has been practicing milking the mother over the last week, and we had a little milk (maybe 16 ounces) in the fridge, I decided to try and bottle up the extra milk and give a few extra meals to the “thinner” kid. It took a bit for the kid to realize there was food in the bottle, but once it got the hang of it, it worked like a charm. We didn’t have a goat bottle, but used a baby bottle with extra holes in the nipple. There is a decent chance the “feeder” sucked on the same bottle.

Is this a bad idea or will it help the thin kid out a bit?

Here are pictures. I hope they make you smile.

Pete

Cute pictures, Pete -- you have a lovely daughter!

The extra feedings may help the thin kid, but it may also just be genetically lighter built than it's sibling. I have a set of twins right now, Kinders, that the doeling is more than an inch taller than her brother, and several pounds lighter. He is built like a tank! No amount of extra feed would make the little doe be built like her brother (they are bottle babies, and have always gotten exactly the same amount of milk at each feeding).

Somehow I think you will *never* be allowed to sell that little goat. That girl's in love.
