Smile This isn't a huge big deal, but...

I just wanted to share this with some people who'd understand.

I am sitting here grinning, feeling happy and peaceful and like all's right with the world. I held my first Nigie kid (or kid of any sort at all) today. She was a teeny thing, and fit across my chest. She was all lemon and white and cuddled up into me and lay peacefully in my arms for most of the time I talked to her breeder (DH took me to Rosasharn today, "to see if I like goats as much in person"). We talked about how to know whether to wether a buck kid, what makes a kid worth a thousand dollars, all kinds of stuff I don't remember now, and I stroked the little doeling the entire time. I hated giving her back. But she was already spoken for, and trying to walk off with her would have made a bad impression, so I gave her back to her mother.

And now I'm sitting here with this foolish happy grin on my face. I like goats.

I totally Understand

I can't believe how much joy my first goat has brought to me. She is better behaved than my dogs! I can take her with me through the yard and she won't run off...sticks right by my side. I never dreamed I would enjoy being a goat owner so much

Yes, I understand. My whole family does NOT understand.

They are better than dogs. Much nicer, talk to you, don't shed hair in the house, nicer poo, the list goes on. :baby04:

I just KNOW you're going to get some goats of your very own. (We'll expect photos, of course!)

Yes, we DO understand.

Maybe its a little like the feeling .. and I can't put it to words..each time I see a birth..its just the total miracle of it all. And there I am..being blessed enough to see it. Life is sooo good.

Aw I bet that was a grand visit, and I'm betting you'll be holding one of your very own very soon... once you're hooked--you're hooked.

yep, we all understand. I love my Mandy and Sandy too. They make me laugh. Ttwisting and turning trying to get me into the cage to play with them. Grandaughter went into the cage with them. They played and played with her. Running around the barn playing pick a boo and hide and seek. What charactors. Grandaughter was laughing so hard she could hardly run. YYes wish i would of had a camera. Maybe some day you will get your wish.

Hi,
I do not post here much. As a matter of fact I am under my husbands name. But reading this I had to respond. I am smiling with you. I am a city kid born and raised in a HUGE city. So when we moved out to the country we wanted animals. Started out with pigs then I help my first goat. Just like you I was in love and grinning. Thankfully the one I was holding was not spoken for. Well her name was Nuggie and she started it all...
So WATCH OUT! LOL
Hope you can hold your own soon.
Take care

Oh, aren't they, though? And Anne even had me feel a couple of udders so I could compare between one whose attachment wasn't all she felt it should be and one whose attachments was perfect (both first fresheners). It was a really educational visit. I also saw one of the bucks try to eat Anne's ponytail, speaking of educational.
