Kimon, get ready for numerous opinions on this matter, well here's mine. I band with the little cheerio green bands. I also apply iodine to the band site once the band is properly in place. Do not band the nipple area, just the scrotum and jewels. When, under two months is ideal, I have no set time but prefer the one month mark because the sack is larger and the goats is still small enough to manage....P>S> thanks for reminding me I have three to do!

I did two last night at 9-10 weeks, this was my first time doing it also. I waited with the hopeful idea that it might help prevent urinary calculi, but I think next time I will do it a little earlier, they have enormous gonads for their size! it was simple but at the same time awkward, rolling the band off without snapping it or crushing their parts with the pliars was the hardest part. I held them in a sitting position facing out on my lap and my husband, opened the pliars. we both worked on getting the buggers in there. I was able to see the nipples and make sure the didn't get in the band while I slipped (that makes it sound to easy) the band off. I definitly will use something to lube the band next time also. good luck!

I can't help you with banding, but since you said "how" - you have chosen banding over other options? because there are other choices and advocates of each here if you want broader information. good luck.
