That was TOO close!!!!

Not 20 mins ago I was outside to round up my kitties to lock them in the garage for the evening.
So as I rounded the house to call one of them, a coyote rounded the other corner. He was so close to the goat pen and they were all running circles in it. It saw me and started to run, I chased the evil little "b". Then went into the house got a gun and fired a few rounds in the direction it ran.
So now I am not going to sleep well tonight.
That was too darn close and I wish I had the gun with me at the time and shot the stinking thing. So now I am going to my windows every few minutes and checking. I am wondering did I scare it enough so it won't be back or is it waiting until it is quiet to try again?
I hope it is scared and won't try again but know knows with those nasty little boogers.

Good timing there! In my opinion..coyotes are a very smart animal. They know what a free lunch is and they know what an easy lunch is. They also have a great memory.

So yes..I think at some point that coyote will probably be back to see if there is an easy lunch hanging out somewhere.

Man what was it last night? This morning early when I let the dog out to go I heard a pack of coyottes in our woods in back. The neighbors dogs were going off, mine were, luckily I think the barking from dogs up by us keeps them out away from the barns and house, but eventually I'd like to enclose that back acerage in and use it for the goats, but I KNOW them come into that area. I guess I'll never really be able to use that back 5 which sucks because along with some heavily wooded areas that would be fun for the goats, there are several nice open pasture areas too. At 10 acres I think we're just too small for a LGD and I can't really have a dog that will get out of our fences and roam neighbors after all the screaming lectures (not really, but definately stern) I've given them about allowing their dogs to roam and come onto our property. LOL Maybe a llama or donkey in the future. Hum

GET AN LGD!!! OR at least a donkey or llama. Proper training will keep your LGD inside the fence---

Well I hardly slept last night and was ready for the little sucker. This morning all my goats are here and fine. I however have a horrible headache from jumping awake at the least little noise.
I had a llama for a day... my neighbor lost it (his mind not the llama) since his boarded horses were going nuts and to save neighbor relations he went to a wonderful llama farm.
I have 7 acres and I do not think and LGD would be happy wth that. I also wonder how my "house" dogs would get along with an outside dog? My Goldne haschased coyotes in the past but he is mainly a homebody.
Maybe a donkey is in our future.
I just know that the nasty little booger better not come back here. I am putting up more lights today and make it brighter. Plus some talk radio near the pen. Maybe that will bore the coyote to death?!

If you don't have an LGD, do get one. And if the coyote comes back:
Shoot
Shovel
Shut up
