I have a mean doe who likes to bite also. When some of the other goats aggravate her she swings her head around like she is gonna bite them. I have never seen her draw blood or break skin though. One time I was wanting to see how full her udder was, I walked up behind her eating at the hay rack and put my hands on her udder. She spun around and acted like she was gonna bite me or but me one. Sometimes when she gets in trouble and I give her a whack on the bottom she will spin around and look at me as if to say... watch it! But her bloodline and confirmation is great so I keep her! Guess she knows it too! Prima Donna!

The only time we have had problems with goats and cats was once a couple of years ago. My big now 7 yo Alpine doe (was 3 at the time) was in the middle and kidding and poor little Tippy cat walks in the pen and Lacey (the goat)grabs hold of her and won't let go. It was all we could do to get her to release the cat. Poor cat never bothered her when she was in labor again.

Back in December, my Nubian X saw poor Sylvia, the cat, as a threat to her twins, and bit her several times. Usually as the kitty was passing by. Mammy got over it, though.

Ok -- does it make me a bad person to think that this story is awesome?

One of our does who just kidded made a few aggressive steps at a cat that came in during labor, but stopped when he left the stall.

The same cat just got karate kicked by one of our hens, too. Pooor kitty.

We had a goat once that was a sweetheart, but hated cats. A cat came too close to her new kid one day, and she reached over, picked him up with her mouth, and threw him! LOL.

That's normal behavior for a just fresh doe. Her instincts tell her that a cat is a predator and a potential threat to her kid. She'll mellow out.

My does that normally love the barn cats- sleep with them, greet them gently-also do the chomp & fling when they have just kidded.

This year, I had a fourth freshener who attacked everything- the hair dryer I use to dry kids, a tape measure, all the cats, and an unfortunate hen who had been laying in that box stall.

That's what my FF Alpine was doing to her firstborn kid last Wednesday. Picking her by the ears and tail and flinging her. When she started chomping down on the baby's back leg with her back teeth we separated them!

I tied her up to let the baby nurse and she bit me!

I've seen my other goats take a friendly nip at the cats, just because they were there and it looked like fun - doesn't seem to be any malice in it.

I just aquired my attack doe a few months ago. A big alpine doe that is now 5YO. She attacks the hens, the cat, and my dog who I sometimes bring in the pen to 'help' do chores. Yesterday I had all the does and kids outside while I was working out there (nicer day) and I just opened the gate to thier pen. Well, said attack doe, Dance, is also my shadow. Not to mention my 5 bottle babies and the one dam raised kid. so I had quite a posse yesterday. But she attacked three dogs, a cat, and a chicken yesterday. She's an odd one. She's got no reason, usually. I'm bottle raising both her kids and she's nearing three weeks fresh. crazy doe.
