Benefits of goat milk

Has anyone else noticed any noticable benefits of drinking fresh goats milk? We got our girls last month and have only been drinking fresh, raw goat milk since. I have lost 3-4 pounds without even trying to as I am more satisfied after drinking the milk so I don't need any snacks before going to bed. I have also been feeding it to the dogs and the dog with allergies is doing much better! No constant scratching or ear infections. My knees are also doing much better and don't crunch and creak as bad as they were before. I just hope when I finally get my cholesterol checked that it won't be elevated!

Sherry, choleserol is necessary for your health, it is produced by every cell in your body.

Pasteurizing milk changes the proteins and fats in ways that make them dangerous to your health, and contribute to the buildup of plaque in your arteries.

Besides this, the medical researchers who did so-called studies on cholesterol levels skewed their findings so that their grant $$$ wouldn't get cut off. They have a much lower level listed as unhealthy than actually is.

For an EXCELLENT and balanced book on the benefits of raw milk, I highly recommend reading "The Untold Story of Milk" by Ron Schmid. It is extremely informative, well-footnoted, and an entertaining read as well. I found it fascinating! Also, read "Good Fats, Bad Fats" by Mary Enig and Sally Fallon. Both these books are available from Amazon.com.

Jill!

My husband is lactose intolerant but likes milk. He usually only has it on cereal but it still gives him a belly ache. The other night I used our fresh raw goat milk on my cereal and he decided to try it. He said it was the first time in years he hasn't gotten sick after drinking milk. I love it but now am not getting enough to feed all the baby animals and have some left for us. I'm back to grocery store milk until I find some more goats.

Cut the baby goat milk half and half with grocery store milk, and you should have enough for your family. If not, the kids can go on straight store-bought milk. It's better for them than milk replacer.

Ok, this isn't really about the benefits of goat milk.... but maybe in a way it is.

We took Cocoa the Wonder Goat (our 3 week old Nubian doeling) to visit the children where my MIL babysits (on her way to Cocoa's disbudding appt). Background... my MIL has skin problems on her fingertips, the skin is very dry and cracks and bleeds. She has no fingerprints because of being worked in the fields so much when she was a child. Anyway, when she was petting the baby goat, she commented on how good it made her fingers feel... it must have been the oil on Cocoa's hair. MIL cannot drink cows milk, and is a bit trepidacious about trying goat milk because of what cows milk does to her...... I think goat milk, and maybe goat milk lotion would help her a lot just by virtue of what petting the goat did for her finger tips.

Are goats magic?? LOL
