We got twins!

Well, Clarice finally kidded. I didn't expect her to kid for another week, but now is good. One is a little small, and has a little trouble getting the teat, but after a couple hours, she seems to finally be getting the knack of it. I did give her some colostrum via bottle initially. She seemed really cold and wouldn't eat. I brought her up and warmed her and gave her some of her mamas milk from a bottle. Took her back and Clarice was glad to see her. The small white one is a doeling and the the Alpine is a buckling.

BTW, according to the sniff the poll test, she did right. She smelled like sweet doe with just a hint of buck. That was just every now and then.

The alpine buckling has to go...to many boys already. So glad to get a doeling though. Funny, the buckling looks just like the buck, and the doeling looks just like the doe.

One down and one to go.

My son called it right. He told me yesterday morning that Clarice was going to kid. She had no discharge, just behavior. He checked on her constantly through out the day. He went down and called me on the radio and said she was close, then he came back up. Went down a little bit later and found he had missed it! He has named them Winchester and Bianca. We will need to get rid of Winchester. I am keeping my distance as I am a softy. Anyone in Mt need a nice 4H buckling? We can have him banded and disbudded. Any takers???
