Anyone have LaMancha/Nubian cross?
Anyone have a picture of one? I am trying to make a decision on straight Nubian or a cross, I can't find pics on line. Help me decide!!!!

Ha, LaMancha crosses look like LaManchas! My little buck that died was an Alpine/LaMancha cross, with super tight gopher ears but his head shape was Alpine.
I have LaMancha/Saanen crossed FF does, who look like LaManchas even the head shape. I've heard crosses can be hardier healthwise. And LaMancha/Nubian crosses should produce a lot of milk that's good for cheese as both breeds have high butterfat.

The ears are what are getting me I think..... very cute. but funny!
Nubians have the long ears right, but are they as hardy as a cross?
They are all so cute! Thanks for the pics!

I just sold two does that are LaMancha/Nubian crosses, they look like the ones in Emily's pictures except that these girls are white.
I have a LOT of the expensive, recommended veterinary books for goats. In one of them (unfortunately, I forget which one right now), there is a chart that details every known breed and cross and charts all the various things that goats are subject to healthwise.
I was shocked to observe that Nubians were noticeably way higher than every other breed in things that afflict goats! But Nubian crosses were basically on the same level as other breeds and crosses.
I have found that the purebred Nubians do not tolerate the extreme cold of the northern area of Vermont as well as the other breeds, especially Alpines and Nigerian Dwarves.
Whenever we have a severe cold snap, or a sudden drop in temp, it is the purebred Nubians that I find shivering and needing extra care, or getting sick.
So my very limited experience and knowledge would lead me to recommend a cross to you---you live in New Hampshire, don't you?
I am know that there are far more experienced goat keepers on this forum who can either add to or correct my post, but I hope it helps, anyway!
Blessings, Jill~

Maybe so But they were bred in the hot places. Mine do fine and I found it's the boers who don't do good. But This is just what I have to say some may be different like how my nubians don't make a sound, only when they are waiting to be milked.

I too would recommend a cross doe to you. I like the Nubian/Boers for color and for showing. The Boer in them will help with udder and to keep very string legs later in life. But what ever breed you chose remember LOVE HER!

Thanks everyone! I think I will go with a cross, though I like the Nubians ears.
