DNA testing?

My Alpine doe just kidded with twin does (yay!), but instead of being the expected Alpine colors, they look suspiciously like my Oberhasli buck. Now, I know that Obers came from Alpines, so I'm sure it's possible that they could be from the planned and witnessed breeding, and I don't THINK that Vinnie (our Ober buck) had access to her during her heat cycle. However, I didn't think Vinnie had access to our Pygmy doe either, and she just had a c-section to deliver a huge, obviously Ober-sired doeling. <yeah, I know, but I didn't know she was pregnant until she presented me with an udder, and by that time it was too late to do anything except ride it out and make sure the vet was aware that we might have to section her, which we did> So, I'm not absolutely certain that my doe's kids are sired by the Alpine buck.

I know they do DNA testing to determine paternity for registration purposes. Have any of you here ever done it? Can you give me a brief outline of what is involved, how it's done, by what lab, and the cost, along with just a description of your experience with the process?

Oh, and BTW, this brings us to 7 kids so far and 5 doelings to 2 bucklings. It seems we are having another doe year here. Although I was hoping for a buckling from this last breeding, darn it! At least with so many folks having buck years, maybe I can find a really nice Alpine buckling for a price I can afford!

I have a friend fixing to have a DNA test run on a buckling...I have never had one done....you need tufts of hair (with the hair follicle attached) and the price is reasonable. here is the ADGA link:

Thank you so much for the link, FN! I was on my way out the door and didn't have time to wait for web pages to load (dial-up, ugh), and you gave me exactly the link I was looking for.
