Kids

Well, we are 12 for 13 with our kids this spring. Five does have so far given us 12 healthy kids. We lost one at birth, even with my DW assistance. We have had 3 sets of triplets so far. Wondering if this is related to the new buck, or just "one of those things". We are vey happy that all of the triplets have been accepted and cared for by their mothers. Last year we had one set of triplets and ended up with one bottle baby. We really prefer not to have bottle babies, as that takes so much extra time.

For the most part, I prefer for my does to kid and care for the kids on their own with minimal intervention on our part. My DW assisted in one birth so far, but the others all had theirs when we were not around. I have 3 more does to go, and hopefully all will go well with them. One is a FF, but the others are experienced moms. I will try to get some pictures up soon.

Congrats! Triplets are a sign of a good nutritional plane of the doe at time of conception. And the doe is the one that decides the number of kids, so its not your buck. Sounds like your doing well.

Yeah, I got to thinking about that, and it seems to make sense that the doe determines that. I also realized that one of my does that ahd triplets was bred to my original buck, so that wouls shoot the buck theory anway. Thanks. I guess we must have done a better job in the feeding part last year.

OK, finally pics.

In the last pic are the kids sleeping with a few rogue chickens that prefer to stay in the goat A-frames than their coop. It was a little chilly that night, and they were all huddled together.
