Lost my does

My 2 does died during kidding, was on the road so not sure why and the people staying dont know a lot and couldnt get ahold of the neighbors, so now left with one male goat -- can I put a pig with him maybe to keep company? Any other ideas -- cheep plz? I am in middle west tn, Wish I knew what went wrong with the does! Fed goat feed and browse, some grain, nice little pasture I was ready to expand -- gonna miss em, but dont want more till I am off road to take proper care and responsibility for them! Just dont want chocalte chicken to be alone!

I wouldn't put the pig with the goat....pigs have been known to eat goats and chickens. Or you may end up with an injury. If they are in adjacent pens, the goat shouldn't feel too lonely.

I am sorry you lost your does. As for your question my DH and I had alot of pigs at one time, we took in a goat that needed a home and since we only had the one pasture fenced at that time we put her in with the pigs(it was a 5 acre field) she did just great with them and lived with them until we sold the pigs. This is just my experience now, if you have large hogs it might be different. These pigs did grow into large hogs but they never bothered her. We still have Sammy the goat but now but she is the granny goat in our herd and runs with goats only now.

We brought our doe home to an only goat place. She bonded wiht our mini horses. Calls to them and thinks they are her little ones. She is due in a few weeks and will hopefully replace her horse babies with her goat babies.

I understand. I've been looking for two weeks for a wether for my billy (I just got him home today) without success! I don't have does yet because I've been really taking my time to find them to make sure I get what I want. I had no idea that there were so many breeders in Colorado (none near me with wethers though...sigh). I hope you find a companion for your sweety!
