What's Your Favorite Bloodline

In Nigerian Dwarves? Breeders, a certain goat, a certain goat's progeny, etc.?

My favorite ND doe of all time is probably Willow Creek Livid. I love Gay-Mor's Pageantry and a buck at Kids Corral, Luzifer Blue. Just stunning to look at. Overall I am working with Gay-Mor, Springs Run and a little Sugar Creek and Buttin Heads. I agree, Wedding Song has the whole package.

Yeah, I'd have to agree on Wedding Song- one of the best ever, and Pageantry is great too. Those are some nice lines you have there, moonspinner- Gay-Mor, Springs Run, and of course Buttin' Heads have got to be my favorites.

Would love to have a Wedding Song buck kid (since that is all she seems to have recently, 2 years twin bucks each time) but mom won't let me pay $1000 for a kid.

Yeah, I would too! But my mom also said no. Atleast Teri Stanton is closeby- I can get some really nice kids with strong Gay-Mor and some Caesar''s Villa. One of her best does just had quints-I bought a doeling and used up my yearly goat budget in the process. LOL. There's always birthdays- I want some Twink's Pixie progeny in my herd. Oh and Weisbaden is just 25 min away from me- I may be able to breed to him.

Stonewalls was pretty influential; but my favs would have to be twin creeks and PS goats (teri Stanton) crossed. Combined, they make some nice animals.

I'm with you on that one. Crossing the Twin Creeks (mine had ease of kidding at least) with them made easy kidders, with friendliness and conformation. Then again, any ND is an easy kidder for me after the pygmies I had!

I have been real fond of the Goodwood, Willow's, Brush Creek and Caesar's Villa lines for incredibly consistant dairy animals that are built to produce. Almost every one of my goats carries these lines.

I'm eternally grateful to these early breeders, Goodwood and Willow's (later became Willow Creek) in particular, who I always felt bred some of the most influential animals in the ND breed.
These were the core of most of the best goats ever produced. Brush Creek Russel, Goodwood Kenya, Kuari Tree, Alamo Messenger, Z Ali Babba, Trillium, Penny Lane. Willow's April Morning, Alias, Avalanche, Willow Creek Treason, Larceny, Instant Replay, Livid. The list goes on...

Goodwood is actually behind almost all of Rosasharn's herd (Goodwood Tom Thumb) with a smattering of Stonewall's.

I love Nigerians!

I am lucky enough to have not one but 2 Wedding Song Granddaughters. They were out of a FF that Sue kept. Since they were out of a FF she wasn't keeping them. She had told herself that she would not keep any kids out of a FF.

I also like Gay-Mor's. I have a buck (now 3-legged due to an accident, had to have it amputated) that is out of Gay-Mor Looney's Moody Blues and Gay-Mor RA Nicotiana. He was a nice buck before his accident, now only having 3 legs he still is a nice buck, just let's his son do all the work. LOL

Goodwood and willows is all more southern bloodlines. People here in New England are just really starting to add. For Rosasharn i know for a fact that her first goats all were stonewalls then she put some Goodwood in there and it became a hit with Tom thumb and lily. Stonewalls had some of the first goat bloodlines taken over from Africa. Now the really old old lines are Bullfrog Alley's, Pine Cone Valley, Highland, Old Orchard, and Braco that you never see its so far back to the were then you get into goats that are Unknown.

I have a doe out of MCH/PGCH Twin Creeks Midsummernitedream 2*D E and MCH Goodwood Weisbaden E, she is the best brooder doe in my herd, she has a perfect body. When i milk her i have the hardest time and her teats are so small. When you go into a show ring with a doe you want big teats and you would think those golden bloodlines would have it, but no. I also think people base to many things off bloodlines and seeing how many MCH, AR, and Stars they can put in a goats bloodlines: and not think about what they want the goat to look like. I have also seen a Rising Arizona yearling that was AI, uglyess goat ever that could be because of using AI or that people are linebreeding to much.

In my herd my Gay-Mor bloodlined goat has my favorite body and my favorite udder is my Piddlin acres doe

True, great bloodlines don't always guarantee great goats. What I have found the longer I breed is how important it is to find the best crosses. Two outstanding goats can produce mediocrity. It's really experimenting to find out which pairings consistently produce the goods and to base your lines on that. I have to concede though, Rosasharn is one of the tops for that consistency.
