yikes - now I'm in trouble

right - I have done the sampling on the goat that wasn't doing so well and.....I am none the wiser! I found a couple of what looked like some sort of egg but didn't really match the pictures I printed from fias co farm. They were round instead of oval, but they had that "wall with other stuff inside it " look to them. I am fairly certain they were eggs of some sort though. but I have also found something entirely different. The best I can describe them is like doughnuts. A thick round "thing" with a hole in the middle that the light really shines through. There were quite a few of these and i am thinking that maybe this is the culprit - but I have no idea what they are. It could be that they are something that should be there - in which case someone please tell me. If not I don't know.

I haven't seen a picture of any common parasite egg that is perfectly round. They have a slight oval shape, except tapeworm eggs, which have straight edges, often like pentagons.

My guess is that you are looking at air bubbles and pollen grains, or possibly mold spores (very tiny).

Thanks Nancy - I wondered about bubbles as the fias co print off talks about them, but the wall makes up by far the bigger part, with a small hole in the middle. I sort of expected a bubble to be mainly hole with a thinner wall. pollen maybe. Mould is also a possibility but would it be in the pellets. Just wondering if it coulld be something from the water - now there's a scary thought LOL. I might do a slide of just water and see what I get there

I think I am going to re-do it tonight and see if I get anything different. I suppose its also possible that we get different worms here in the UK - I also posted on the equine board to see if any of the horse worms are like that as she is kept with the pony. But I'm not sure that they would be THAT different.

Thanks

Coccidia? Different species can have slightly different shapes.
