Contractions

Ok going by the Service memo Date on a bred Doe I Bought.( Nigie)
Today is her 148 day. now since yesterday morning she has been having possible contractions or maybe just positioning kid(s). She is streching out and hunching often. There is a sticky discharge, nothing hanging, no color to it. She has not made a sound Not acting like she is in discomfort Eating with no problem. I even took her out for a little walk with no problems.
I never had a doe act this way for so long of a time prior to kidding.
Is this normal with some Does.
There does not seem to be a problem but could there be a misplaced Kid and she would Not be vocal??? I am not sure what to do or if i should just let her be.

Sounds like she is getting them in line with all the hunching and stretching. Watch for hard labor tonight.

I think she's doing good...but sounds like she is getting close. Helen..was up and down and stretching for four days this time. Quads was the reason why. And I know how you feel..I was getting very anxious by the time they finally came.

Good luck!

I feel for you!!!!

Just to make you feel better, we had our first babies two weeks ago. Our doe starting having a discharge, stretching, yawning & lifting her front hoof off the ground....three weeks!!! before she delivered!!!
I thought for sure she was moments away from delivery...only to wait three more weeks! We didn't have an exact breeding date, (she was bred when we bought her). We just knew it could be between certain dates. So, you're not alone! The waiting game is not fun!!

Looking forward to hearing your good news!!!!

have you checked ligaments? That, and udder swelling, I how I tell a doe will kid a certain day. Always works for me. They usually loose their ligaments within 12 hours of kidding, though during certain times of the year they are more likely to kid at certain times... Summer it's usually around 5:00 because the day is cooling off, and winter usually late morning. That's not to say that alot are born in the middle of the night, hehe. Keep an eye on her! Remember to post baby pics!

She looks beautiful and well cared for. I don't think she looks quite ready yet, but I'm not an expert. Hopefully others will give you their valuable imput.

LOL..I can't get that ligament thing down either. I don't feel so bad now.

The one thing..and I don't know why I don't just go by it..these girls ALWAYS start talking to their babies..within hours or less of kidding.

Never fails..I wait..lose sleep checking..and go down there.. hear one of them talking like their babies are already here..they're not..but shortly there after they are.

The Saanens are really vocal..you know..that soft little talk they do when the babies are born...I just love to hear that..sounds like a mothers song to me..lol..okay..lock me up now!

The kids are here!!! Sasha freshened with twin Boys. Was hoping for a Doeling, but aren't we all LOL!!!! They are happy and healthy. My daughter was thrilled she finally got to see the birthing. I kept her home from school today and I stayed home from work, so I sure was glad that she did deliver today.
All went well.

The're adorable. Guess she was ready. LOL Beautiful goats, all of them.

Oh, and Sherry, that and the sound of munching hay on a summer evening are my favorite sounds of all. There's nothing much more relaxing that sitting in the barnyard after the evening feeding and just listening to the sounds of everyone munching away, and there's nothing much more beautiful than a mother 'talking' to her young.
