Good price for goats?

I am considering the purchase of 2 does from an ad in the local paper. They are $60 for one, or $50 each for 2 or more. They are mixed breeds. I don't care about the breed, just want them for weed control and to breed at end of year. They are one year old.

I have not had much experience with goats. My uncle had them when I spent the summer with him. I was 9 and he taught me to milk then, but have not had any experience since. So, considering I am a complete novice, any advice about care and needs would be appreciated.

I so miss goat's milk, but only want to get these goats if it's within my ability to take care of them. I'm planning to go look at them tomorrow.

Thanks!

That sounds like a reasonable price for your average brush eating goat. The larger breeds will be able to reach more brush, but even the Dwarf breeds can clear out a lot

You sound like you are interested in milking them, so do you now if the "Mix" includes any dairy breed?

You're not ging to want to pick just any old goat to milk...nor have your milkers clearing brush. If you are just getting something to put meat in the freezer as long as they come from a decent sized stock you should be ok more or less.
