The Boer goats I see have rather small teats. Fine for her kids, but not so good for my hands to fit atound. Mine all have "3 finger milkers" on them. The alpines, etc have much, much larger teats. Mike

Yes I know that, I was thinking about getting a hand milker (middians Milker) We have some hair sheep and I hread their milk is very high in butter fat, But I would have to taste it first! (I don't think my buyers want sheep cheese!)

Wink

Actually Hazy, sheep milk cheese is becoming more and more popular. Here is a link for ya and of course you can google sheep milk cheese and find all kinds of info. Maybe your customers wouldn't want it but I bet you could attract different customers who do, it is kind of a trendy thing now!

It depends on the doe how hard she would be to milk. I'd agree that most high percentage Boer does have teats better constructed for kids than for hands. But I do have two or three Boer/Dairy does who have very nice teats to milk. Better than some of the dairy does I have seen in fact. Boes give milk that is very high in butterfat and if handled as you would handle other milk, is very good.
