baby leg problem

I have a Lamancha buck baby born 3 days ago. He is having problems with his front leg. He isn't or can't straighten it. He is getting around fine but the leg bends backwards when he walks. It doesn't bend so much that he is walking on his knee. He wasn't like this when he was born so he must have gotten stepped on or fallen on something. Is there anything I can do? Maybe a splint to keep it straight and give it support as he grows? He was a single birth but he is a big boy.

If you search the past threads you'll find where other goat kids have done the same thing and developed just fine. It seems the ligaments are a bit too stretchy after birth.

most of the time they will come out of it in a week or so . but you can wrap it up to give it some support . we use horse wrap that sticks to itself . most farm stores carry it

One of our kids had the same problem, we did nothing but watch it to make sure it didnt get an worse and at 10 days old he is fine. I think it just got pulled or something during the birth. Good luck with yours !!!

A little more time, and a bit of help- just straighten/reposition for the kid has always workes for me. Never had to inject anything to cure the problem. Seems to happen more often with a set of triplets. They get banged around and spit out hard sometimes. Mike
