Wow! That's a Big'un!

Brigid kidded this morning (about 3 hrs ago) finally on day 155 lol. She had one very large doe kid. I had to really pull to get that baby out, she's ginormous! She's exactly what I wanted though, a baby Brigid. I named her Georgetta. She's doing very well, and was trying to eat the second she was out.

How sweet. How much does she weigh? What kind is she? She doesn't look very big at all, but it depends on what kind she is. She is sure a sweet looking girl.

I haven't weighed her, but judging by holding her I'd guess about 10-12lbs, and being that her momma only weighs 105-115 (depending on when she was weighed), she's pretty darned big. I had to really pull very hard to get her out. I'm not sure what her momma is (I was thinking Alpine/Nubian or some variation thereof till I saw FarmGoddess's Saanen/Nubian, and am now leaning more towards that but ). Her daddy is Alpine/Nigerian Dwarf.

We had our first kid born here at the end of November and he weighed just over 12 pounds! Mama pushed him out ok on her own, though. I was told she always had twins, but this was a single birth. She must have been with a kiko buck when she wasn't supposed to last summer about a month before we bought her. He is going on 3 months old now and nearly as big as the 9 month old oberhasli kids I have. Here are pics of him soon after he was born:

I decided to add another pic of Georgetta that I feel shows better just how big she is. She's 1 day old in this pic.

what a nice color! I wish my does had that! All I have is black and Brown! Mom looks like a Nubain cross Alpine. But she could be Nubain cross Saanen. I have a doe that is 25% Alpine 25% Saanen and 50% Alpine! I am going to breed her with a nubain because her ears are like your doe and see if I can't get any nice milkers from her (Shes only 11 months now)
