4 week old bucks with buck smell?
every moring when i go to feed my nubain buck babies i open the door and a bad smell of buck comes from thier pen i don't have any other bucks but them and never had 1 on the farm yet (2 year with goats) and 1 tried to hump me leg (sorry for the wording) and now they have the smell and will be 2 months when my next kids are born so im getting worried about them and thier mom should be in heat soon and we bring them in with me when i milk so im worried i will turn my back and find them breeding mom!

Hazydays, if you don't want them to breed Mom, separate them.

Yup, separate them. The smell can taint the milk, too... There aren't any sisters/other unbred does in that pen, is there? If so,there's a pretty good chance they're bred now...

I don't have any doe yet next doe is due in 5 weeks will make them 8 weeks and hopfuly 1 will be sold. When they are with me im always watching them! the smell is only there in the Mor and gone in the Night. Mom is always in the milkstand when they are out. Shes huge! No shes the tallest nubian ecer im guessing in the stand she is over 30 -40 inchs off the ground and her legs are just at the back of the stand so there is no way if them breeding her! I do have a yearling doe that I what to breed if i do should i hold them up to do the job? or cna they sire any kids yet?

HazyDay, I'm finding your statements and questions disjointed and difficult to understand...maybe you should slow down and check for typos, also punctuation in key areas might aid understanding.

hahahahahahaha! You know the saying "where there's a will there's a way"? Guess what? That saying probably came from a goat breeder with a short buck and a tall doe. There's another saying EVER VIGILANT...though it's best applied to a good democracy, it again probably came from a goat breeder with uncastrated buck kids and tall mothers :baby04:

My friend has a doe that was the result of the still nursing buckling impregnating his own mom. Apparently height was not an issue! I was sort of amazed. I just found this out yesterday as we were going through her pictures and pedigrees, and thought of this thread.

So, ya'll are saying that a 4-wk old buckling can BREED? 
Our buckling will be 3-weeks old tomorrow. He "mounts" his Aunt Sally, but just figured its part of his jumping all over her.
He spends most of his time with Aunt Sally because Momma doesn't play much. Aunt Sally is teaching him how to be a goat.  But, now you have me worried.
So, now I have to worry about him breeding his momma before he's even weaned? I don't want to wean him before his time.

Umm yes I think they can breed! but if aunt sally is just like what i call all of mine (they are not related and i tell the babies go with aunty Beth) then you should be fine. But if shes in heat then they will bred!

I wouldn't mind if he bred Aunt Sally... that's our plan, anyway. But I sure don't want him breeding his momma. Suzy (momma) is bigger than Aunt Sally, and I'm hoping he won't be able to reach her before he's weaned. Then we can separate them. He can't reach Aunt Sally yet, either, though. Her ______ hits him in the chest when he mounts her.
