MIRACLE BABY....14 hours after water breaks

I am in shock. The vet FINALLY got around to doing my does C-section 14 hours after her water broke last night. Both vets examined her and assured me that the baby was not alive. They had other "emergencies" and didn't get around to her surgery until this afternoon.

I was shocked when they called and told me that the surgery was over and that the baby girl was alive. I'm praying that she makes it through the night. I can't believe they waited like that. She is truly a strong little miracle girl. She is so cute. I took a photo on my camera phone but don't know how to post it. She is still at the vet hospital tonight with Mom. So far both are doing well.

I'M SO EXCITED!!!!!

Just curious... how did they examine her that they were able to determine that the baby was not alive? Anyway, congrats!

Hooray.

The most common (and cheap) way to determine if baby is still alive is auscultation.

I am so glad! :baby04: I hope and pray she and the baby are well. Please let us know - after you get some rest! I know you are exhausted. (And I think it is horrible that they put off doing her surgery so long. )

I'm so glad the baby is alive. I'm appalled that they waited so long to do her surgery. When my doe needed a C section, she was taken to surgery immediately. The sheduled pet exams had to wait. Little Velcro was a miracle kis as well. He travelled, head out of his dam, 30 miles in the back of my station wagon. The vet was amazed he was still alive. His brother was OK too. Velcro grew into a nice buck who is making nice Boer babies for my friend.

I am just thrilled for you! I am so glad you got a kid out of this. Please do post that photo when you can and get a weight on that baby, love to know how big she was. Hoping the momma doe is feeling well too.

CONGRATULATIONS!!! That's quite a story. I'm glad it has a happy ending! I do have to say, though, I wouldn't be real happy with that vet. I think that was poor judgement on their part. But...it sounds like things turned out well...despite that.

My son named his first goat "Miracle" and my daughter named her goat "Blessing." It sounds like you have a Miracle /Blessing of your own!!!!

Thumbs up

That is such Great News.. God worked a MIRACLE for you MountainMama.. He was watching over you and your goats.. I believe your little baby will live to be a big gal later in life.

What name do you have picked out for her?

I thought we should name her Miracle but my 10 year old daughter had picked out "Olivia" for our first girl. (That is her middle name). I can't wait to go see her in the morning. I'm just praying that Olivia and Mom both pull through without additional problems. They both had a REALLY bad day yesterday.

I still don't understand why they couldn't do the surgery earlier because I considered it an emergency. They tried every way to get her out without a C section but didn't have any luck. Two vets and a female assistant with smaller hands all tried and all said there was no movement and that she was dead.

I am so HAPPY! I'm still trying to find out how to post photos here.

She's precious! Olivia is a wonderful name! I think the name Miracle seems to be pretty overused in the goat world anyway.

I am so glad it turned out okay! Hope both continue to do well for you. I also cannot believe the vet let it go THAT long, just because they thought the kid was dead! I think you are very lucky that you got a live kid out of this! Enjoy!

This is such great news. I am glad that they are doing well. I am afraid I would be giving that Vet a piece of my mind. (not that there is many pieces left). I have to say my vet would of done the same thing as Goatkids vet. My vet LOVES goats and they are wonderful with all animals. :baby04:
