.
If there is a will there will be a way.

He and she had the will and he ( the buck ) and they ( the does ) found the way.

Makes for good mixed cross goats.

I think a nubian/lamanch cross sounds delightful! My alpine/lamanchas are my best milkers. Congrats! Heh heh, and people kept telling me "they can't breed through a fence" (how do you think I ended up with half alpine kids????_

LM/N kids going cheap! Come and get 'em!!! :o)

Nope, I dont feel better yet.

Maybe more screaming would make the long Nubian ears pop out on that pretty little doeling!! LOL

The kids are going to make GRRRRRRRRREEEEATTTTT family milkers! There is NO DOUBT about it. BUT I CANT KEEP THEM! No way. No how.

The only LaManchas and Nubians I kept during my "culling spree" last year were the VERY BEST OF THE BEST milkers. Over a gallon a day or you cant stay!

Here the thing: I am waaay out in the boonies and only a handful of people within 200 miles have or want dairy goats. I can sell purebred kids because people dont seem to mind driving for hours to pick up a registerable Nubian or LM. BUT, people rarely will spend that much on gas money to get a crossbred kid even though they have the awesome milking potential - this cross should be incredible. LOTSA milk, and a good price. Any takers?

I dont know WHAT we are going to do.... I will NOT take them to the auction. Not gonna happen! I may end up giving them away, but would rather not do that because people sometimes dont value a goat they got for free as much as if they had to pay something for it.

Cabrito, maybe.

LOL......I have a similar concern myself. I have a LaBoer doeling that was bred to my Boer buck before I sold him. if she was bred, her due date is in a couple of weeks but she is not uddering up or getting much of a belly. However, she was penned next to my LaMancha buck. She is now developing a small, orange-sized udder....makes me wonder if she is bred after all, but perhaps not due til later.....and bred to the Lamancha buck and not the Boer! It would have to be one of those through the fence type things too, or a secret jumping over the fence and jumping back things...stranger things have happened!..her delivery date will tell....if she delivers!

I have a milker that is 1/2 Lamancha 1/4 Nubian and 1/4 Boer and she is awesome, better than some purebred Nubians i have had in the past....1/2Lamancha 1/2 Nubian would be a fantastic milker, especially after looking at the goats on your website.

Eeek! Why couldn't you live in California or Wyoming? lol I just finally got my first Nubimancha (though I think I'm starting to like La Nubian better ) , though he's a buck. The lady I got him from crosses Nubians and La Manchas all the time and they are awesome milkers!

I know you told me where you live, but do you have any idea how far it is from San Marcos? We would LOVE to have a family milker with that mix... My hubby LOVES manchas and we love milk... Maybe we can take one of your doe kids... Do you have pictures? Are you hand raising them?

Thanks,
Steph

Maybe you need to advertise them as one of the "new designer breeds" of goats. You know, the labradoodles and puggles of the goat world. The rich milk of the Nubian and the sweet disposition of the LaMancha- the best of both breeds!

But seriously- there must be someone in your neck of the woods who would have been willing to buy a purebred and would love to get that doeling?

My friend would take your earless wonders in a heartbeat if you were closer - she loves the look of the LaMancha. Me, I can't stand the earless look, makes me shudder, just doesn't seem right somehow!

Now then, if they were long-eared mix babies, you and I would have a talk .

They're probably not earless, my guess would be airplane ears - in which case, may not be able to register them. Alpine lamancha cross gives nice elfin ears.

I'd like to see pictures. They'd still make good family milkers.

I'm guessing elf ears.....
I know those little ears are very strong.
I have a 1/2 LaMancha/Alpine and 1/2 Nubian doe with elf ears. Bred to a Nubian she's thrown mostly elf eared offspring with a airplaned eared doeling.
Those daughters bred to Nubian tend to throw elf eared and Nubian ears.

I've seen a doe out of a Nubian buck and a LaMancha doe. Those were the weirdest ears I've ever seen!
Shaped like elf ears but way longer than any elf ears I've ever seen. They hung down, but were shriveled looking.

I can't wait to see the udders and milking ability of my two doelings who are Saanen/LaMancha crosses. I would be screaming too if crosses weren't in my plans, but your doelings will make some homesteading families very happy.

That's exactly what I am hoping for, and it was really just the voice of despair (and frustration) saying I'd have to GIVE THEM AWAY!!

I've got to try to get something for them to help with the feed bill! Hay is RIDICULOUSLY high here.

Little Elf Ears about describes them all.
Check them out on the sale page of my website. http://www.fourmilefarm.com/

Dana's boys are N/LM, so is Maggie's girl, and the photo of this latest one isnt up there yet but she looks pretty much identical to Maggie's girl.
I'll get a pic of her tomorrow - her ears remind me of a Jack Russell puppy - LOL. Little perfect triangles that are folded over and down.
