Learning more about my ND's bloodlines!

I know more about good ND bloodlines now than I did when I purchased my 2 most expensive goats ever.

The doeling has OMF's Scarlett as bother her GGGD, and her GD. OMF Patrick Quinn is her GF, and Tom Thumb is her GGF. She also has Stonewall's Raising Arizona as a GF.

The buck shares many of these and other equally exciting bloodlines.

Too bad I don't register or show.

I'm a big fan of any Rosasharn goat, as Tom Thumb is. Raising Arizona is also a very well known buck in many pedigrees and highly thought of.

Good for you!

Actually Tom Thumb is of GoodWood breeding, but I think so many people think Rosa because so many Rosasharn goats are out of him. I can't disagree, Rosa is one of the top names in the biz - solid, milking machines and show winners.

Duh! Moonspinner, right you are, I feel dumb for that comment. But it seems most of the Rosasharn goats are based off him. The fact is still there tho that that herd puts out some excellent animals!

And I think the Patrick Quinn is a Rosasharn too.

Tom Thumb is in there more than once...

I don't register because initially my whole reason for getting goats is to make milk to make cheese. And because I love them, of course.

I could register the buck and doe, and the woman I bought them from had started the paperwork. I know I could get hundreds more for their offspring if I chose to do this. But I am just happy to have the milking genetics in there.

I don't want to get too caught up in the rest...maybe I will yet register those two. The other four purebred Nigies I bought when I was first starting out. I asked the woman I bought those girls from if they were registered, and she said she didn't do that because she didn't like tatooing their ears. I thought that was a pretty strange answer, to be honest. They are also very nice specimens. In fact, my mature doe looks like the twin of the mother of my buck. The prior owner of my buck and I were exclaiming over the resemblance. She nursed triplets and had milk to spare. So I know she is a good milker. This year she is a lot smaller, so I am assuming twins, not trips.

My Blossom is a very pretty, very correct example of ND. But I have no clue what her ancestry is.

I really enjoy looking them over and imagining what kind and how many babies they will have. It's like being pg again w/o all the agony!

Blessings, Jill!
