Sorry I do not have any answers, but where in the hill country are you? I am in the San Marcos/NB area and know of at least 2 very good goat vets here. If you can't make it here you can call them and ask questions..
Let me know..

I'm west of Harper - thanks Nelsons!

Temp 103*

HAVE GIVEN NUFLOR, BO-SE, AND BANAMINE PER THE VET.

BREATHING FAST.

Forgot to mention that when I disbudded this kid I noticed that his left horn bud was lower than his right. Closer to eye. Had to give him Banamine for pain after disbudding, because he cried and cried/ In fact, I stopped the disbudding process a little sooner than I wanted to because of how upset he was. MORE THAN the average kid.

So, now he is 3 weeks old and seems to have a lopsided head. Dont know if this is relevant. Just thought I would mention it. Doesnt seem mushy or swollen. Just lopsided!

Thanks Steph! I will let you know if I need the #. Hopefully this treatment will work. Thank goodness I have all the meds on hand!

His twin sister is doing GREAT. I just took the boy back out to the kid pen because he is happier out there with his sister than in the house.

Here is a pic I just took of his head. Sorry it's blurry.

Has he had bo-se ? A vit b injection won't hurt. Also have you treated him for coccidia yet , if not start now .

The rest sounds right on.

Aha!
Thanks to Susanne, we figured out it is a raging ear infection. Poor little guy, he has lots of swelling and when I pressed gently on that ear it started oozing. It hurts him terribly to have me touch it.
He was better this afternoon than he was this morning, so hopefully with the antibiotic he will continue to improve.
