Midwifing for a Neighbor

My neighbor had to work today. Her Nubian doe, Apache, was supposed to be due tomorrow . . .

Anyway, the neighbor asked me to go check on things, and this is what I found:

Midwifing for a Neighbor - Goats

A fine, fine boy! His navel was iodined, and I made sure he got on the teat - boy did he go for THAT! Apache passed the placenta. Mom and son look like they're doing fine.

I'll be going back to check for other developments in a little while.

So cute! Wish you were here to help with my delivery. I've been waiting all day and my nerves are shot!

MountainMama, KsHobbit, I'd love to have you as neighbors! MM, my Lalaith is supposed to be due tomorrow. She looks like a keg on toothpicks. I don't think she's going to go tomorrow. She's probably going to make me tear my hair out.

A whole bunch of neighbors like us could make things a bunch better, couldn't they?

Yep, I need a neighbor like you too! I have to go out of town for a wedding in two weeks, and I am going nuts trying to figure out how I am going to have my four goats cared for during the 5 days I will be gone. Thank goodness no one is pregnant!!!

Nehi,
It sure would make everything more fun. My kidding is over for awhile with the last one born this morning. I love to watch the babies playing and all the nervous mothers watching them. One set of triplets, two sets of twins and three singles. It is so nice to talk to other goat mama's about all the thrills and chills that goes with the watching and waiting and worrying!
