Ligaments?

Do goats ligaments always start going soft days before they go into labor? I have a doe, pasture bred, early due date Feb 7. Her udder is HUGE - VERY firm but not tight and hard. I milked about a tablespoon out and it is a creamy light yellow milk. Though she is huge and showing those "I am tired of being pregnant" actions, her ligaments are still very firm. Can they loose them quickly or must they be soft for days? Thanks.

I am wondering the same thing....LOL...I had one doe go from tight ligs (rock hard we are talking) and then to baby dried and on the ground in less than an hour . I was like "HOW ON EARTH DID YOU DO THAT!" but she never did answer . I have a doe right now who is ready to POP but her ligs are still there . Dang goat...

Tis the season for late night trips to the barn. A watched goat never kids. It has been very cold this week and that just adds to my worry. I keep reminding myself that goats have been doing this without my help for a long time. I turned on the baby monitor and I am going to sleep, that should do it.

It depends, first freshners or old hats at kidding? I'm currently watching a 7 yr old doe, 5th timer, she'll go soft overnight. I have another 3 yr old, I know she's not due for at least two weeks, her ligaments are all springy. I would guess it to be the other way around. I know the 7 yr old could kid anytime in the next few days.

My girls are both "older." Willow is 6 and Molly is 7 but I have only had them for a few weeks so I don't know their labor history. I guess they can go faster when they have done this several times before?

Dawn, they are just like women. They are all different. I have a doe that as far as I can tell, her lig never went soft. But then I decided I really was not sure where I was to feel. I do know for sure know.
