Goat Breeder lost her barn and most of her herd to a fire!!

A friend and fellow goat breeder has lost her barn and most of her herd due to a fire. Any help whether finacially or spiritually is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Lori

Chris,
Please spread the word around about Anna's barn burning. I think we can all
pitch in and help her. At least financially.
I sure she would appreciate any help she could get and I think maybe our
goat club could start the ball rolling with a donation of money and
challenge other goat clubs to match our offer. What do you think? Poll
every member and sent this to them all.
Carroll

Subject: BARN BURNED TO THE GROUND

> I feel like Job - that which I feared the most has come upon me. My
neighbor called me at work yesterday morning and told me the barn was on
fire. When I got here, everything was gone. For those of you who have been
to the farm, we're talking about a two story 40 x 60 foot barn with stalls
and pens to the sides and a huge general population pen to the back.
>
> We lost 14 goats (including SG Foxwood CP Milky Way and the wonderful
yearling in my Christmas card). I lost all eight of my this years babies. I
lost the oldest (and I think the best yearlings). Needless to say, we are
devastated. This is the very worst - there is nothing left of the barn and
contents except a metal milk stand that the firemen salvaged. It's warped,
but I used it last night to milk. A friend brought me another metal stand
last night so now I have two. (I feel blessed to have wonderful friends.)
The back porch is now my milking parlor.

> The best news is that God blessed us this afternoon with 2 beautiful doe
kids from Hot Biscuit. (Julie turned her into the pasture yesterday or we
would have lost her

helped me birth babies today! Amazing!

night, but was too emotional.

> This weekend, we'll start some real clean-up. We tried today, but there
are many hot spots and I melted the soles of my boots. I did get to the
carcasses of the eight young kids and buried them. The others we burned in
huge funeral pyres yesterday and last night.
>
> Some of you will wonder about the cause. We had a heat lamp on, but it was
very well secured above the kids. The fire inspector was pretty sure that
the fire started at the electrical junction box in the front of the barn.
(We still don't have power to the back of the house because everything was
on the same breaker.)
>
> Believe it or not, there are some wonderful positive notes. My SGCH golden
colored doe Pink Rendezvous, her half-sister Panther, and ten young
yearlings were rescued by lineman from an electrical company who got here
before the firemen. They saw the fire from the road and pulled back as far
as they could in the back yard. They risked their own lives (the fire
totally melted heavy grren plastic feeders 30 feet away) and pulled down
fences to get them out. I met them this morning. There are not enough words
to thank total strangers who saved some of my very best animals. God is
indeed good!

> We covet all of your prayers. Hug your goats tonight. I am thankful for
what I have left!

There is a link to her website http://www.imanifarm.com which gives her address and you could email her and ask her for specifics. At this time I only know she lost everything from meds, to feeders, hay racks.....everything.

My prayers go out to you Anna..this is something that one experiences and find their are no words to explain how it feels. I have been where you are..that you have given God praise for what you have left is a giant statement about who you are.

My contribution to you may be minor..but my admiration and prayers for you abound.

God bless you and yours..

My heart and prayers go out to Anna. I read on Dairy goats that anyone that wishes to send funds can do so to Anna's paypal account badgoat@charter.net

I know first hand how she feels. My house caught fire and we lost literally everything. I had 2 young children and they lost their home, toys, clothes and all that kept them safe and comfortable. If it had not been for the well wishes of people I did not know I don't know how we would have made it through. It was near Christmas and all the gifts were gone and there was no money to buy more. My insurance company kept us in a motel for 6 months and then suddenly said we aren't paying. They even prevented contractors from starting work by telling them the whole time they weren't going to pay. So we were suddenly without forewarning without a home to go to, and the insurance company was not paying the motel bill any longer. Finally they agreed to pay for the physical repairs to the house, less about 40% (we had a 100% replacement policy) and they gave us $10,000 for contents. That was about 5% of the value. Having been put in that position, we were forced to take it. Now, I will only have insurance on my cars, and only the ones being driven at the time. I constantly change it with the seasons.

The company said that we had had a small kitchen fire a few years before and it wasn't on the paperwork, even though they knew about it, they paid it. I had changed and went back to them. The company NATIONWIDE INSURANCE. We were forced to start over after 18 years of marriage. My home now is paid for and I refuse to carry homeowners. I guess if something happens, its God's will.

I will be sending her a donation via paypal. I encourage any of you that can to do the same. Even if it is ony $1, that will buy a needle and syringe for one of her goats vaccinations. That is a horrible feeling of hopelessness to be victim to a fire. Thank God it was her barn and not her home, but nonetheless it is a horrific loss and the loss of those beautiful animals is devastating enough. She is now faced with having to care for those that are left and she has nothing in which to do it with.

Anna, my heart goes out to you and wish you luck. My hugs, prayers and well wishes are sent your way.

Ruth
