New Babies!

Of course today I had to drive to Buffalo this afternoon.

Of course today, this morning, Taffy was eating like a hog, only slightly bagged up, and showing no signs of labor.

Of course, when I left at one pm, she was still doing the above.

Of course, when I got home at six, she had two babies dancing around beside her.

Happy Groundhog's Day! Not quite sure of sexes - too dark in the barn. One is black with Toggenburg markings, the other is pure white. Will post more info and pix tomorrow in daylight!

ps- her daugher Licorice is bagged up tonight- maybe more babies tomorrow!

You just know she was waiting for the sound of your engine going down the driveway, don't you?

Glad everything went ok, even though you weren't there. It's awfully cold around here just now.

Soooo, pics?

Talking

Taffy's baby goats are doing great. They have had at least two good feeds that I have witnessed and have figured out how to go in and out of their blanket-filled dog house. The white one is a doeling and the Toggie-marked black is a buckling. Vanilla and Gumdrop for names, we think.

Pictures will come later- when the snow dies down a bit. We are having white-out conditions - can hardly see the barn. I have to bring warm water out for everyone and feed the rest of the critters. First things first!

Licorice is still holding out on us. Of course with this nasty weather, it would be the perfect day for her to freshen.

We're 18 degrees F (minus 8 C) here today. Very very windy today, so they are saying the wind chill makes it minus 13F (-25C). Still way warmer than you though, yikes!

We're getting a bit of that, not quite so bad. I guess because you're closer to the lake than us . . . They're calling for windchills of -30 tonight - warning is in effect.

DH is out there trying to fix the tractor so we can plough the lane. The four bolts that hold the steering column sheared off, so he's trying to drill them out. So far he's broken two drill bits. I can see we'll be out trying to shovel out a 400 foot laneway by hand.
