Good for you! I'm an adopted person. I always enjoyed telling my pals I was chosen, but they may have been an accident.

you are right. we tell our son , who we adopted at 11 weeks old, now hes 6 yrs. old that out of all the boys in the whole wide world we chose him over his friends. he loves that story and asks often to tell him his adoption story..

Congratulations! We adopted my 17-yr-old ds when he was 5 days old. His birthmother contacted him a couple of years ago and they have a somewhat rocky, but interesting relationship. Have fun

That is wonderful. It is great to know that there are WONDEFUL homes out there for those special kids. I take off my hat to you and bow to you. That is so exciting. I know someone that was a foster mom that horrible kids. She was not a good place for any kids much less those that really need help.

Ohh you are so lucky! We hope to adopt when DD is older - she just turned one this month. I was actually planning to adopt before I ended up PG and was upset thinking I let a child down, but I came to realize it wasn't our time yet.
Congrats on your new family additions.

Am I understanding you correctly that you've been approved as foster parents since 1999, but this is the first placement in your home? My daughter is a foster parent here in Oregon, and they're constantly asking if she can fit "just one more" since there aren't nearly enough spaces for all the kids! She has 3 right now -- 13, 2 and a baby that she received direct from the maternity ward. DH and I have decided that we will be willing grandparents to any and all children that pass through her home, for whatever time they may be part of our family. So far, a blessing to both sides of the equation!

Best wishes to you, Maryanne! How fortunate your new children are to have you!

yes I have been a approved home since 1999!!!!!imagine how crappy we felt all this time for not being "picked"!! I cant say in this forum the things I have called certain people at agencies....lol..... well, the girls got here tuesday and are doing very well, I am adjusting , i slept all night last night, which was great! i couldnt sleep the first night, i kept checking on them! they slept just fine.I feel blessed i must say. we are hoping to adopt agin one day but i am certain these girls will be placed back in their house(i cant call it a home, sorry) MY house is a home....

My wife and I have been approved since march of last year and have three right now and we get at least two calls a week wanting us to take more kids. We have 12yo and 13yo sisters and a 18 month old we've had since birth that we are presently adopting. There is a shortage of foster families in western Ar right now.
