rumen location...

ok.. the rumen is on the left side... but silly question..
is it the goats left side??? (i'm assuming it is) not my left side facing the goat...
so babies are best heard and felt on the goats right side....

so simple.. but i have officially confused myself..

thanks....

i know its a silly question.. thank you for answering...

i have a goat - that has a mysterious breeding date.. and i keep wondering if i'm trying to listen on the wrong side...

thank you....

i had laid her on her side to listen from underneath.. by her udder.. but i'm having trouble hearing what i want.. i'm not sure i guess; what i should hear.. i'm thinking if i hear it once ... (little goat heartbeats..) i'll know what i'm listening for..

I had to check and double check this my first year with goats, took me a while to get it down.

If you're listening for heartbeats you're looking for something fast, steady and countable (say for 30 seconds), then you know you have it. It usually takes a bit of poking around to find it the first couple of times. If she is further along, or has more then one, just keep listening up her right side (up to about mid belly) looking for it.
