It is 3x's the horse weight so you would dose her for a 75lb horse. Injectable is much easier to dose out and cheaper in the long run.

Do you know if you need to deworm? Have you taked a sample in?
I was just at a big livestock meeting and he talked about Rumenant animals, (cows, sheep and goats). He said the biggest problem is, people over medicate their animals. For example, he said that people try to deworm them just because they think they should. When you do that you get meds that do not work anymore, either because the animals becomes amunde to it or the parasite does. I talked to him about things I have heard that people deworm after the doe kids. He asked why, and I had no answer for him because I have never really heard WHY everyone doe it. He asked what MY deworming practice was. I told him in the spring and the fall I take in a sample of poop to the vet and have them do a fecal on it, then after I hear what the problem is, that is what I treat for if I need to. He said that is more what should be done. Some people treat with Safeguard or whatever and it does not take care of the type of worms or eggs that the goat has at that time.
I am not at all saying everyone does it wrong, I am just saying what I do and what he said to do. He said the same thing about all the different meds. Pleple treat a animal bucause they have a cold or lets say a fever. If you have a fever you do not take antibiotics for it, only if it is really needed.
So that is just my two cents.

If the guy could not afford to worm , worm her now with whatever you can get your hands on . Then worry about fecals and better wormers.

Patty

Look for goat mineral if you cannot find any for right now use dairy cow or horse. It will buy you some time until a supplier can be found.

If she hasn't been wormed in a long time and you have the Ivomec on hand, go ahead and use it. In a week or two have your vet do a fecal sample to see how she is. Most of the best wormers are not actually *goat* wormers. I use Cydectin Cattle Pour-On. Its used orally in goats and has done a *very* good job for me.
Find a good goat loose mineral or failing that most horse loose minerals will do for goats.
If she was mine, I would probably *slowly* switch her over to an oat/barley/cracked corn/black oil sunflower seed feed ration. You'd buy the ingredients by the 50 lb bag and mix it by hand. Some people can't get barley...in that case, oats can be used more heavily. I was very pleased with my goats on that diet.

I just reread the post 3 months. I would treat her for coccidia also. TSC should have corid. They also sell other types of wormers. She also needs cd/t shots. They have them also.
