Doe Duty..still on Gabby
Well, it looks like Gabby is finally really ready to have these babies. I really thought she would go early this time due to her enormous size and everything. But no.... we, I mean I, have been keeping an eye on her every couple hours for the past ten days or so and she did not produce. Finally today there is a lot ( disgusting amount) of goo and she looks to be in labor. Everything is ready and her pen is cleaned out except for a bit to soak up the mess. will be glad to get some unbroken sleep. Come on Gabby, you can do it! She is 152 days today.

I know Kim! I am so cold, I cannot imagine how the babes will stay warm. My Dh has insisted I no longer speculate about putting a pen in the basement! ( Aw come on honey, just til april or so....) maybe if Dana and Gabby get together they would get competitive about it? I am going out to tell her that Dana is going to have babies before her and hope she gets jealous. Best of Luck!

That stubborn Mama! She just will not give up the babies. Day 153 and she just wont pop. I hope she has them this evening as we are enjoying a balmy 38 degrees today.

Tick, tock, tick, tock nothing yet! She lost her plug and has just a bit of goopy goo on her bottom today. A lot of laying around, standing up and stretching etc. No squatting that I have seen. She is breathing a bit heavier though. Who knows? I have thought she was ready so many times and was wrong that I am afraid to speculate anymore. I asked the breeder if the dates were correct and she is sure they are. We are at day 154 now.
KimM, we are in the stateline area near Janesville and Beloit, about 1 hour from Madison.

Trish, I would be it is soon. Don't you love it because you know they are crossing their legs and holding their breath to make us go crazy.
I have a doe that I am praying is due about the 8th of Feb. She is looking really close and this morning she had a little very little dry mucus and blood stuck to her. See for me, by buck got to her so I lutalysed her and took her to another buck. I am praying that she took with the other buck, not that mine is not good, I just want to add some new blood to the herd. Here where we show, all the cashmere goats are somehow related. OK almost all of them. I had a judge last year tell me at a show that she was having a really haard time on three animals, they were all so good and she couldn't decide who to place where. I finally told her they were either twins of half. They were all breed to my buck. There are not very many good bucks around, or if they are they charge so much for breeding that the 4H kids just can't pay the price, so they are all so close to eachother. This year I was lucky to find someone that has beautiful bucks and does not show.
OK Sorry I got off the subject. Anyway my luck my doe will make it to the due dat I want and go way beyond. Her realy 150 day due date is the 13th of Feb. That is 150 days from when I took her to be romanced.

Welllllllll, since I last posted Gabby came through! She delivered three bucklings (at first glance) between 1:00 and 1:30. The second was huge and i had to pull it, feet were coming thru ok but the head could not seem to get past and the last one was a lot smaller. First buckling has nubian color with alpine markings. Too cute! Everybody has nursed a bit and are all up and walking about. Momma has drank an entire 5 gal of molasses and warm water and is trying to keep up with licking everybody.I will post pics as soon as I can. thanks for waiting it out with me. Ahhhh life is good and baby goats are sweet. Now to shower, I smell like goat birthings.

Alright Gabby!!! Those silly does just like playin' with our heads. Can't wait to see pics! I'll try getting a couple tonight. We've been fighting with our plumbing all week long and I still need to learn how to use my new camera.

Everybody made it through the night. I was saying prayers because it really dropped last night. It was cold! Today I sacrificed a bale of grass hay for them to curl up in instead of comforters and went to a tack sale. I found three small fleece lined dog jackets for 4.00 each. I would not normally be so extravagant but I know I can use these over and over again. Momma got wormed and everybody is nursing well. I wish dial-up was not so slow, it would be a lot easier to get pics on.
