I fell into such a deal
Lady here locally wanting to downsize her angora herd. She had just posted for a free bottle baby, and i called & We started talking. Now i will be the proud owner of a small starter herd of angoras. This mama and her twins, the bottle baby boy, a buck and a preggo doe. CAmera battery died..more pics soon

Congrat's... I have to ask what is the purpose of this breed, do you sell the wool, or are you raising then for meat or dairy. just curious.

Angoras are raised for their 'wool'. Its what mohair and cashmere is made from. I'm so used to my boers and nubians that the ears on the kids crack me up LOL>

I guess the way I worded that sounds silly!!! I know Angora is wool LOL!!! I used to have Angora rabbits, I was wondering if you were getting into them for the wool , if so is it hard to find buyers for wool? I have looked at them in the past but was not sure what the market would be.

I'm not sure either what the market is here. But i live in RURAL OREGON~where all the old hippies come to retire, lol. I have more research to do, but i am sure there are weavers and spinners by the dozens hereabouts.But no matter what.. they were goaties that needed a home...so they found me.

I wish they had a smilie for green gilled, they are so nice. I was just reading more about angoras and cashmere today. I am really happy for you, hope it turns out to be very marketable for you.

They are gorgeous! I love Angoras. I thought about getting some but after talking to some people and doing some research ,I realized they are just not a good breed for Florida (although every now and then you find people that have some). Some day I would love to move out to Oregon (its so beautiful there) and have a herd of Angoras...lol.
