I'll BET it's time for kids soon!

I dunno the due date except on an approximate basis...BUT...

I caught a cold last week and feel like dookey, so just feeding in evenings is about enough...the temps outside have dropped from high 50s and low 60s (40s overnight) to low 40s (low 30s overnight)...there are huge changes at work and lots of stress...my calendar is chock-full of appointments that have to be kept...

YEP, THE TIME IS RIGHT!

BUT DON'T YOU DO IT, LIL GOATIES...

LOL.

I field breed a large percentage of my does, so due dates are approximate starting with 145 days from the day the buck entered the pasture. Even so, there are definite signs, body changes, udders, ligaments - I have yet to be "surprised" with kids. I don't make a super human effort to attend every birth, but I still know when to expect them.

My 10 yr old daughter suggests that we use reverse phychology on your goats.
We'd LOVE for you to kid today and give us ALL buck kids please!!
We had a doe kidding this morning and she said "Ugly buck kids please!"

It didnt work this time, but it might next time!
We got BEAUTIFUL buck kids. Colorfullllllllllllllllllllllllll!!! And that stinkin Nubian doe was bred to the WRONG buck so her kids dont have ears. Dangit.

I'm close to your way, Doc, but even lazier. LOL. They kid out in the pastures too. The due date is around middish February sometime, and after 16 years of daily herd watching I do stumble into clues as to how far along they are. Big bellies but no bags, no tightening or shining of the teats, no exudate in back, but protruding vulvas, everybody's still herding up, but they like to lie down a lot more than they did. I'd say I have a 3, maybe 4 week wait yet. I was just trying to be funny.

............ Except for those pesky personal circumstances all stacking up to indicate kidding time! ............

Ark, I'll try that way out in 2 hours. I talk to 'em all the time during evening feeding.
