Nubians with Nigerians?

Ok, I hope this isn't a silly question but would it be ok to keep two small Nigerian does in with a larger breed (Nubian) wether? I plan to get the little guy in April and the does are both 18 months old now. Any issues with this?? I wanted to raise a larger breed wether so we can train him to drive.

Nope, no problem at all. The older does should actually keep him in line from the start, lol. I have a miniature herd and I"m just now getting Alpines... The alpines are both afraid of my herd queen, and for good reason! She's a hardy little thing that doesn't like being bossed, lol. Oh, and did you check out the other thread on cartbuiding? That plan looks easy to do!

Oh, and go to www.llamasupply.com for your goat harness... It's cheaper there than several other places I"ve seen it. And if you get their catalog, it has all sorts of nifty diagrams and whatnot for hooking goats up. They also have a GOAT BRIDLE!! I thought that was awesome, just thought I should share.

Hey great thanks for the suggestions! That site sounds excellent but I couldn't get the link to work?? I'll try it again with google as well. I can just imagine the two sweeties bossing some little boy around, but actually Maja is quite vocal maybe she'll turn out to be the boss. Oh that would be somethin to see. This is gonna be a GREAT year.

I have larger breeds with my Nigerians and pgymy goats. My larger breeds are Nubian, Lamachas and half Boer. They all love eachother and cuddle up to stay warm on very cold nights.

kerrinatoz I just want to add there is no silly question. If you don't ask questions you will never know.

Good Luck.

My Nubian prefers to bed down with the the NDs over the Boer doe. She lets them eat drink with her, but she runs off the Boer and won't share with her.
