I feel the same way. I love my goats and am completely addicted.

I suffer from depression and often times there are many things around my home that don't get done on a regular basis. But my goats always get taken care of. I will just sit out in the barn with them on some of these COLD days. Being with them is my best time.

Yes, I'm a goat lover.

Talking count me in too

Maybe this forum serves to pull in those with said addicitons and let them relate so we don't drive our loved ones who aren't afflicted by goat-love crazy! I was completely addicted to horses all my life, and I still own one, BUT I really enjoy having the goats now. They are good pets for children and very social. How'd I go goatless so long?

I'm there!!!

I never would have thought I'd say it, but I am right in with the rest of you! I'm an animal lover in general, but goats just never even crossed my mind until I moved here to AL. But even crazier, is that my hubby is right there with me, and he has never been big on my animals!

Maybe we should start a goat lovers anonymous? (sp?)

I'm 16. I go to a normal highschool. I, however, don't go shopping with the girls every weekend, go to parties, or get into the wrong crowd in any way. Why? Because then I wouldn't be able to care for my goaties. I think that's the reason my dad oftentimes doesn't mind helping me pay for things for my goats; He knows I'm staying out of trouble. How many 16 year olds do you know that asked for a goat milking stand for thier 16th birthday? For christmas this year, I borrowed 400.00 from my dad to get my new alpine doe. I'll have to pay him back when she kids this year. I spend all my money on goat equipment or thier care... I'm running out of funds, hehe. The main reason I want a job is so I can fuel my goat passion... This year I"ll have my first milking goats, too, and hopefully show goats... Something my friends aren't looking forward to, because I have to milk them 2x a day 12 hours apart every day. I don't mind, but that means that I won't be able to go anywhere.

Yes, I'd say that qualifies as an addiction! LOL

Yrs, we love them like they were family. I remember the time my step-son came by the house, he almost died on the spot when he saw a baby goat in our bed. It was cold and we had the electric blanket on it, I had given it CPR earlier to try to save it, and yes, she lived and is doing very well. They still laugh about it.

Yes! Another goat lover here. We even situated their pens so I can watch them out my kitchen window. Milking is my favorite "chore" and I am so excited for spring so we can start milking again. I have 4 does and 2 bucks...I also had a wether but he died this past week...a VERY sad day at our house. We have other animals too--chickens, turkeys, horses, dogs, and cats--but the goats are my very favorites. They seem to like us, too!

Just a quick response to "My Goat" who posted above....I'm a teacher, and I am encouraged by your post. Some bored students do find trouble, and you are blessed that you already found a passion in goats. When I was your age, it was horses for me. It is wonderful you found somethng that you love so much, and it benefits us all that we have a forum to discuss problems as they arise. Keep learning, and maybe you can study to work with animals as a career after school.
