pictures of your pens?

I'm unsure of what my pen should look like...

soooo!!! i was wondering (this could be fun) if all you guys could post some pictures of where you keep your goats?

i have some idea's but i'm not sure...

if you were on the poultry forum about 9 months ago, you've seen my chicken house:

i was going to build something similar to this type of style.

anyway
i was hoping to build a good sized goat house that could comfortably house 3 or 4 nigerian dwarfs or pygmys with extra room to run around

i have about half an acre to work on, at the most.

don't be afraid to post pictures

thanks,
maddie

TN John,

Great pics. Your set up looks quite nice.
I have a lot of building to do here over the next couple of years so pics like this are invaluable.

Dumb question: After setting the poles in the ground, how do you mark them to cut them off level at the tops?

Thanks.

Rockin B, The simplest way is to dig your holes, level your posts from side to side, fill in the holes with cement or dirt. Just make sure your posts are taller than what you really want. In my photo I used 12 foot posts in the front and 10 foot in the rear. Then just attach and level your fascia boards in the front and rear of your building. At this point you simply fire up a chainsaw and chop off the tops of each post. What's critical is to have the 2x6 or 2x8 inch boards level prior to loping off the tops. Write anytime, I'd love to help....Tennessee John

I just had to pop in to tell you that your thread title finally got me to clean my computer screen. Due to something on the screen, I read the title: pictures of your penis?

Tn John,

That makes so much sense. Why could I not figure that out? <grin>

Thank you.

I need to build numerous builds like this and that helps.

What do you rest your "rafters" on?

rafters

If you look close at one the pictures you will notice that the rafters set on top of the board that was used to level the posts. You would probably put these 32 inches apart. By doing this they work out with plywood and other materials. 32x3=96 inches or 8 ft. You want to remember to allow for an over hang also. If you use tin for the roof that is 8 ft. long you may want to allow a foot over hang so your building would be only 6ft.allowing for a foot in front and back. If you use tin for your top and walls you would probably want to use 1x4's spaced out ever 2 feet on top your rafters and walls. Hope is some help and good luck.
