Maybe not quads afterall...

I was really hoping that either May or Kaili might produce our first set of quads this coming January. For awhile, I was fairly confident May would pull it off. I'm not near as confident now, but fairly sure she'll drop some triplets for us. These two are littermate sisters out of a set of quads (three does, one buck). They will be three this year and second fresheners (we purchased them at close to a year old and open). May, the smaller of the two had gone through a bout of Polio and was still recovering when I drove to TN to retrieve them (and three other goats). Anyways, my two quad girls. May is due January 22nd and Kaili is due January 20th. They both went into labor on January 21st of this year within an hour of one another. Both had other due dates. Both produced twins. Kaili had two girls (the second was born dead) and May one of each.

Here is one of my favorite does when it comes to color. Her attitude leaves a bit to be desired (she kept biting me right after delivery this year...).Anyone want to take a guess at what breed(s) she is? I know her breeding.
She is due the 23rd of this month. She didn't kid for the first time until she turned three. She just never took to the bucks (ran with them 9 months out of each year). She's produced two does and two bucks. Last year's doe kidded as a yearling and this year's doe was one that aborted. We lost this year's doeling to pnuemonia. She was a striking doe as well.

Lamanch/Nubian cross. I have one that looks EXACTLY like her, lol. She gets the biting from the nubian side. Lamanchas are ALWAYS perfectly behaved.

She's 3/4 Nubian, 1/4 LaMancha/Alpine. You can't ever be rid of those ears it seems...lol
Here is her 7/8 Nubian, 1/8 LaMancha/Alpine daughter from this year. Evangline (RIP);

She had a more Roman nose but still the elf ears. Both times Elegance has kidded the doe has been elf eared and the buck has had substantial ear. She kidded to our Boer/Saanen last year. This year, she is settled to either him or our Nubian buck. Elegance is due December 23rd...not my choice...

As far as the biting...my elf eared does bite a whole lot more than my eared does ever due. Part of it may have to do with the heirarchy (the LaMancha/Alpine buck was our first, so his daughters are the matriarchs of the herd). Elegance just loses control at kidding time (hormones). She's never bit me any other time. I had to tie her up tight to make sure the kids nursed and I gave up because she was able to reach around and bite me!
